Assisted psychotherapy

What is Assisted Psychotherapy?

Assisted therapy involves medicine like ketamine or other psychedelic medicine, and  is a structured, clinically supervised treatment model that combines the neurobiological effects of psychoactive compounds with psychotherapy to facilitate psychological healing.

Treatment typically includes three phases: preparation (establishing therapeutic alliance and intention), the dosing session (medically monitored administration with psychological support), and integration (processing insights and translating them into sustained behavioral change). This model is particularly utilized for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related conditions.

Please contact me with any additional questions or if you would like to see if you may be a suitable candidate for this form of Psychotherapy.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (kAP)

What is Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy?

Ketamine therapy is an emerging treatment option for individuals struggling with treatment resistant depression, anxiety, and PTSD. This therapy involves the administration of low-dose ketamine, an anesthetic medication, to alleviate symptoms of mental health conditions and promote neuroplasticity while pairing with integration through psychotherapy.

Prior to starting this therapy, you would meet with me and a licensed medical provider to assess qualifications for this type of therapy, as well as medication prescription by a medical provider.

More Information on Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy

Safety:

Ketamine therapy is generally safe when administered by a trained licensed medical professional in a clinical setting. However, like any medication, ketamine therapy can have side effects, including dizziness, nausea, and changes in blood pressure or heart rate. These side effects are typically mild and short-lived and can be managed by medical professionals during the session. It is essential to disclose any medical conditions or medications to the medical professional before starting ketamine therapy.

Efficacy:

Ketamine therapy has shown promising results in reducing symptoms of treatment resistant depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Studies have shown that ketamine can provide rapid relief from symptoms, with effects lasting for days to weeks and beyond. Ketamine works by targeting the brain's glutamate receptors, leading to increased neural plasticity and the formation of new neural connections. This process is thought to help alleviate symptoms of mental health conditions and have increased outcomes when paired with psychotherapy.

Length of Treatment:

The length of ketamine therapy can vary depending on the individual's symptoms and response to treatment. Some individuals may experience significant relief after a single session, while others may require several sessions over a period of weeks or months. Maintenance treatments may also be necessary to sustain the benefits of ketamine therapy over the long term.

Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (PAP)

What is Psychedelic-assisted Psychotherapy?

Psychedelic-assisted therapy is a structured, clinically guided treatment approach that combines psychotherapy with the supervised use of psychedelic medicines to support deep psychological healing. Medicine is administered in a carefully prepared setting to enhance emotional access, increase neuroplasticity, and reduce rigid patterns of thought and behavior.

Prior to starting this therapy, you would meet with myself and a licensed medical provider to assess qualifications for this type of therapy.
